SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
1. Applicant must attend one of the three Rockdale/Newton County High Schools.
2. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior.
3. Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Official transcript is required.
4. Applicant must demonstrate positive-impact involvement – be a well-rounded student (classroom, extracurricular activities, and the community).

SCHOLARSHIP PROCESS
Applicant must submit the following items:
1. Completed application form (if handwritten, please print legibly)
2. An official copy of high school transcript.
3. A copy of the ACT or SAT Scores.
4. Two (2) letters of recommendation from choice of high school teachers, administrators, counselors, employers, or individual with significant knowledge of applicant’s experience and involvement.
5. Essay – please see the topic in the application.
Due to her love for science, Dr. Joy Jackson-Guilford developed the JJG STEaM Scholarship to assist deserving area youth who plan to major in science, technology, engineering, arts and/or
math with the financial burden of a post-secondary education. Because of her community engagement, the students must
actively support the community in which they live. In addition, they must show an eagerness to achieve through knowledge by intending to pursue post-high school course of study at either college/university or other post-secondary educational institution.
